Hi, I'm Bill

Founder · Technical Recruiter
I'm the founder of The Tyche Project. I help startups hire Software and AI Engineers, and I've been doing it for more than 20 years.

I grew up on an organic dairy farm in Central New York. On a farm, the work gets done whether it's convenient or not, and I run every search the same way. I'm also a husband, a dad, and a big sports fan.

I started The Tyche Project because I didn't like how most of the industry worked. Too many firms treat hiring as a transaction: send resumes, collect a fee, move on. I wanted to be a partner who understands what a company is building and sticks around.

That's still how I work. I take on a few clients at a time, and you work with me directly. I scope the role with you, talk to every candidate myself, and manage the process through the offer. Many of my clients have depended on me for several hires across more than one funding round.

In 20+ years of recruiting, including as the first recruiter at Stackdriver (acquired by Google) and in-house at Rakuten, I've built real relationships with a lot of great engineers. Those relationships are a big part of what I bring to a search. So is honesty. I'll tell you when a role is scoped wrong or the comp won't land.

If you're planning to grow your engineering team, I'd like to hear about it. And if you're an engineer thinking about your next move, reach out too.
